Original manufacturer data and digital fleet tools

Fleet operators, fleet managers and dealerships increasingly face the challenge of compiling vehicle data from different sources and connecting the dots between the different data points. After all, there is usually lots of data – but it's only useful when it is intelligently connected.

That is precisely where our new softwarefor fleet management and vehicle inventory management comes in: SilverDAT Connect combines cross-brand configuration, VIN and live vehicle data on one platform – provided securely in full GDPR compliance based on OEM contracts. No additional hardware needed and most importantly, there are absolutely no data silos!

FAQ

Basically, each vehicle can be created in SilverDAT Connect with the help of the chassis number and almost each can be automatically identified. The transmission of connected car data is supported by almost all vehicles manufactured in recent years. A detailed overview of the coverage of individual brands can be found in our data catalog.

With the help of the SilverDAT Connect configurator, even individual specifications, such as the maximum permissible CO2 emissions, can be taken into account alongside many other criteria, such as the gross list price, when setting up company car policies.

For some vehicle brands, the data transmission to external systems can be signaled in the course of fleet operation via a note in the infotainment. In most models, the data transmission is not directly visible.

All LCVs can be created in SilverDAT Connect. Most modern LCVs can also provide live data without additional hardware.

No, hardware-based systems are not supported. Unlike OBD solutions, SilverDAT Connect can access the live vehicle data without additional devices. An initial investment in hardware and installation is therefore not necessary. The processing of sensitive data such as location information can also be excluded. The first models with integrated telematics were published in 2014.

With the exception of a few brands, it is possible to add stolen vehicles. Adding the vehicle at the time of embarkation is recommended as a precautionary measure against theft.

Our customers themselves are responsible for deciding whether and for what purpose location data should be processed. As a rule, a declaration of consent must be signed with the drivers. In the vehicle, the release cannot be changed or overwritten.

SilverDAT Connect provides access to current mileage, consumption, maintenance data, engine, brake, starter battery and tire alerts. The vehicle location can also be provided if required.

In our framework agreement, we implement the provisions of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) without restrictions. Each data value transmitted by the vehicle is sent together with the associated chassis number (VIN). In customer target systems, vehicle data is usually managed in connection with information about the driver, tenant or lessee. For this reason, obtaining a declaration of consent for the processing of the data by the fleet operator (data controller contractual authority) may be necessary. In this context, DAT and associated service providers shall act as data processors.

Both vehicle operators and commercial vehicle owners can legally give other parties access to live information. Within the scope of SilverDAT Connect, DAT takes over the function of data processing and preparation. The information is protected by technical and organizational measures and will not be forwarded to other entities without the consent of the user.

We recommend the optional implementation of the compatibility check in SilverDAT Connect to check which vehicles are equipped with the necessary connectivity components.

Obtaining a declaration of consent may be necessary if a personal connection can be established through the live vehicle data.

For Ford and Tesla vehicles, a one-time (free) activation in the manufacturer portal is necessary.

If the specified conditions are met, the import of the chassis number is sufficient to initiate the activation.

The transmission of live vehicle data can be stopped at any time in SilverDAT Connect via the button "Disable".

Vehicle configuration, identification and valuation, as well as prognosis and live data can also be obtained independently of one another.

Access to configuration, identification, valuation, forecast and live data via interfaces is possible.
